How to join CVRCA

Feel free to visit the field, attend a club meeting, or contact one of the club officers.  The field is open to public spectators, whenever club members are present. Due to noise concerns certain engines are not allowed before noon on Sunday.  Otherwise, the field is open from dawn to dusk.  If you're new to R/C, we have an active instructor program and even a club trainer to use!  If you are interested in attending a club meeting check the upcoming events calendar, or go to the contacts section to get in touch with a club member.

The basic steps in joining CVRCA and to get started in flying are as follows:

  1. Fill out the CVRCA membership form and mail it and your check to the club secretary (address is shown on the form).
  2. Hook up with one of the instructors to get some initial direction on models best suited for you.
  3. Join the AMA (see next paragraph).
  4. Assemble your model and prepare it for flight.
  5. Begin flight instruction.

How to join AMA

An important eligibility requirement that the club strictly enforces is that each member that flies must obtain and maintain AMA membership.  The Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) is a national organization that exists to promote the hobby.  Membership provides liability insurance, plus includes a subscription to a pretty decent monthly magazine.  AMA is also our primary insurance carrier. See the AMA web site at www.modelaircraft.org
